Course Description

Welcome to Module C, The Study of Professional Biblical Counseling. We believe the Bible is the standard and reference manual for the wise Professional Biblical Counselor and Coach (PBCC). The Bible is God’s Word, and it contains all the knowledge, understanding and wisdom needed to describe the root causes of atypical human functioning that our Heavenly Father God is fully aware of. His Word is our handbook of processes and provisions that He knew we would need to restore the human condition to His original plan. 

The format of each Workbook Lesson is designed to help make assessments and diagnoses of the human condition effortlessly. Module C also presents opportunities for you to reflect on your personal experiences, assess them, and finally be free of hindrances that keep you from functioning at your full potential.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Module C, The Study of Professional Biblical Counseling, will provide an overview of the Legal and Ethical guidelines mandated by the State of California, the American Association of Christian Counseling as well as the Code of Ethics for Lifebuilders Counseling Services Institute for Professional Biblical Counselors. At the end of each lesson, you will take a quiz covering what you've learned from that lesson. When you have completed the four lessons in Module C, you will sign the Acknowledgement of Ethical Standards, then you will begin completing the learning activities. 

Workbook Lesson C501, Introduction, Overview of Law and Ethics introduces the Professional Biblical Counseling Model; what it is and what it is not. Lesson C502, Introduction to the Counselor, Counseling Skills Approaches and Process discusses the characteristics of the effective Professional Biblical Counselor, basic counseling skills and the basic treatment processes from the initial phone inquiry, treatment, termination and follow-up, then finally, a list of tests and measurements are included. Lesson C503, Treatment Issues, Crisis Intervention, Depression and Anxiety, provides an overview of assessing and treating depression and anxiety, and Lesson C504, Mechanisms of the Mind and Treatment for Relationship Issues, describes the treatments for intrapersonal and interpersonal relationship issues.
